Positive Attitudes Bring Success (PABS) is an educational resource
designed to help students enhance their educational experiences. The
program is designed to empower students' families, strengthen family
relationships and create hope for a better tomorrow through academic
success and other avenues. PABS will create an environment which will
allow families to develop need-fulfilling behaviors which will greatly
increase their ability to positively interact and focus their energies on
intellectual pursuits rather than on painful, self-defeating behaviors that
constantly bombard them. Many underachievers have choices about what
they think and do, but they don't know that until somebody teaches them.
PABS will teach children and parents how to make positive choices even
in adverse situations.
The activities will be research-based best practice activities designed to
correlate with Georgia Performance Standards on each grade level. There
will also be activities designed to enhance parents' family leadership as
well as their personal academic skills. Expected outcomes of all activities
will include: critical thinking, decision making, comparing and contrasting,
analytical, independent thinkers, self esteem, pride, confidence, honesty,
patience, self-control, sound judgement, problem solving and self
awareness.
